Huntington Bancshares Incorporated Implements New SEC Rule for Internet Posting of Proxy Materials

COLUMBUS, Ohio, March 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Huntington Bancshares Incorporated (Nasdaq: HBAN) ( today announced the Internet availability of proxy materials for its 2008 Annual Meeting of Shareholders under the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) Notice and Access rule.

The Notice and Access rule allows companies to furnish proxy materials to shareholders via the Internet as an alternative to the traditional approach of delivering a printed set to each shareholder. The proxy statement for the 2008 annual meeting and the 2007 Annual Report to Shareholders on Form 10-K have been filed with the SEC and are available at . Huntington shareholders also may obtain hard copies of the company's proxy materials for the 2008 annual meeting - and may elect to receive hard copies for all future meetings - free of charge by following the instructions provided in the "Notice Regarding the Availability of Proxy Materials" that was mailed to registered shareholders on or about March 12, 2008.

The 2008 annual meeting of shareholders will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at 11 a.m., EDT, at the Riffe Center Capitol Theatre, 77 South High Street, Columbus, Ohio. The record date for the annual meeting was February 20, 2008.
