Community Development

Investing in Communities

Huntington’s commitment to the communities we serve began in 1866, when P.W. Huntington founded the bank with a vision rooted in service and trust. That legacy continues today, guided by our purpose: to make people’s lives better, help businesses thrive and strengthen the communities we serve.

Everything we do centers around putting people first. We are deepening our impact by focusing on what matters most — economic vitality, financial security, and a sustainable future for all. We believe meaningful change happens when we listen, collaborate, and act with intention.

Our relationships with local businesses and community partners are the foundation of our efforts. We bring empathy and integrity to the work we do in supporting our communities. Through lending, investing, and hands-on engagement, we support initiatives that uplift neighborhoods, expand opportunity, and build resilience. Whether it’s advancing affordable housing, supporting small businesses, or delivering financial education, we’re committed to creating lasting value in the places where we live and work.

Affordable Housing and Community Impact Capital

We partner with local housing organizations and developers to:

  • Finance affordable housing developments, like Community Impact Capital
  • Tax credit financing, including investments and loans
  • Offer special mortgage products to low-to moderate-income (LMI) borrowers

We reinvest in the communities we serve by:

  • Helping communities, small businesses and housing developers gain access to capital
  • Funding neighborhood development and infrastructure updates
  • Offering grants and sponsorships to local nonprofits to help them scale their impact and serve more people

Consumer Lending and Small Business

We are dedicated to helping local entrepreneurs thrive through:

  • Microloans and start up financing
  • SBA loan programs
  • Business planning resources
  • Homebuyer education programs

Financial Education

We believe that financial knowledge is the foundation of financial well-being, which is why:

  • We offer free financial literacy workshops for students, seniors and low-to-moderate communities to support their financial goals, like Reality Days
  • We provide events and initiatives designed to support and empower small businesses, like Seeds for Growth
  • We create online tools and resources to support smart money management, like interactive workshops on homeownership and youth financial education
  • We partner with schools and nonprofits for youth financial education, like Junior Achievement

Volunteerism

We are proud to support our colleagues’ passion and dedication to making a difference through:

  • Volunteerism encouraging colleagues to give their time and talent to local causes and nonprofit organizations
  • Board Service championing our colleagues to take leadership roles in nonprofit and civic organizations
  • Financial Contributions supporting community needs by funding programs and initiatives that enhance lives and strengthen our communities

Together, we are building stronger financial futures and more resilient communities.

We provide products, services, financial education, and investments designed to create strong local economies where people and businesses can grow and succeed.
