Huntington Appoints William C. Shivers Akron/Canton Region President

Shivers Brings More than 17 Years of Banking Experience to the Region

AKRON/CANTON, Ohio, Oct. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Huntington National Bank has appointed William C. Shivers as Akron/Canton region president. Shivers has been interim region president since July 21, 2009. He has also led Huntington's commercial banking team. His appointment is effective immediately.

Shivers joined Huntington from Quaker Manufacturing Corp. where he was director of sales and marketing and vice president of operations. Previously, he worked for Key Bank's commercial banking section for 15 years. He held a variety of positions at Key, including leading teams in Youngstown and Canton. His diverse background includes serving as a state examiner for the Ohio State Auditors Office.

Shivers received a master's in business administration from Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio, and his bachelor's from Hiram College in Hiram, Ohio.

Shivers is a graduate of Leadership Mahoning Valley and is active in the community, having held a variety of United Way volunteer and leadership positions. He also serves as a fundraiser for the Red Cross and is the past chairman of the Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges.
