Huntington Bancshares Appoints Norman Bertke Corporate Real Estate and Facilities Director

Bertke brings more than 17 years of experience in property management and asset services

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Feb. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Huntington Bank has named Norman P. Bertke, a Columbus, Ohio-based executive, as senior vice president and director of corporate real estate and facilities. Bertke oversees and leads all aspects of Huntington's real estate activities. He reports to Mark Thompson, senior executive vice president and director of strategy and segment performance.

"Norman's distinctive background managing high-profile office, industrial and retail real estate projects will be a tremendous benefit to Huntington and our ability to manage costs," said Thompson. "His leadership will provide an opportunity to efficiently leverage our current real estate effectively, be more energy efficient and make certain that facilities used by our customers are convenient."

Bertke's responsibilities include management of all owned and leased properties including occupancy, maintenance, construction, relocation and renovation. Additionally, he will manage land lease acquisitions as well as leasing and site location.

Bertke most recently served as managing director of asset services for CB Richard Ellis, where he oversaw a portfolio of more than 20-million-square-feet of commercial real estate in Central and Southwest Ohio. Bertke also was a senior vice president and director of asset services for Columbus Commercial Realty (CCR), Cushman & Wakefield Alliance. Prior to CCR, Bertke worked for YUM Brands, where he was responsible for site selection and development of new restaurant locations. He has held numerous roles in Columbus, Chicago and Dallas managing multi-million dollar portfolios of office, industrial and retail assets.

Before starting his career in commercial real estate, Bertke was a captain in the United States Air Force, where he was named Senior Company Grade Officer of the Year in 1997 and Outstanding Company Grade Officer of the Year in both 1994 and 1995. Bertke earned his undergraduate degree in English from the U.S. Air Force Academy and his master's in management from the University of Southern California. Bertke is a 2004 graduate of Leadership Columbus and was recognized in 2005 as one of Columbus' "Forty Under 40."
