Huntington Bank Becomes Title Sponsor Of Broadway In Austin With 10-Year Texas Performing Arts Partnership
Official Sponsor Debuts with Record-Breaking 11-Show Broadway in Austin Season for TPA's 45th Anniversary
August 21, Austin, TX — Texas Performing Arts (TPA) today named The Huntington National Bank (“Huntington”) the series title sponsor of Broadway in Austin beginning with the 2026/27 Season, which also marks TPA's 45th anniversary.
With the 10-year agreement, Huntington Bank becomes the Official Presenting Partner of Broadway in Austin and the Official Bank Sponsor of Texas Performing Arts. The partnership reflects Huntington's growing investment in Texas. As part of an expansive commitment to The University of Texas at Austin—including Texas Athletics and the Texas Exes—the Huntington Bank Broadway in Austin further establishes the bank's presence through one of the state's most respected cultural institutions, connecting the Huntington brand with audiences, artists, alumni, students, and communities across Central Texas, and beyond.
“This new partnership underscores a shared commitment to strengthening Austin's vibrant arts community, bringing great stories to the stage, and welcoming generations of theatergoers to Broadway in Austin,” said Bob Bursey, Executive and Artistic Director of Texas Performing Arts. “I’m looking forward to working with Huntington Bank to support the creative and business talent it takes to put on an incredible season of Broadway shows.”
Home of Broadway in Austin, Texas Performing Arts ranks first among university-based performing arts center by annual audience, budget, and level of performance activity. Since 2020, the organization has expanded significantly, welcoming more than 400,000 attendees across 237 performances last season—a 40% increase over the 2018-19 season—while more than doubling its operating budget since FY2019. That sustained growth has been driven in part by the continued success of Broadway in Austin, which has grown from a single production in the 1985-86 season into Central Texas' premier presenter of touring Broadway productions. The 26/27 season will be the largest in the history of the series, featuring a record-breaking lineup of 11 Tony Award®-winning productions and audience favorites.
“Austin is a city built on connection, creativity and community, and the performing arts are an important part of that story,” said Huntington Bank Central Texas Division President Blake Absher. “As Huntington continues to grow in Central Texas, we’re focused on showing up locally and investing in the people and institutions that help this region thrive. This sponsorship reflects our long-term commitment to Austin and our belief that strong relationships are at the center of strong communities.”
